Platte River
Typical view of the river during the daytime when the Cranes afre away feeding. There are several channels like this. Power lines crossing the river are a serious hazard for the birds, and a few are injured beyond recovery each year. It's not a deep river so it seems they could someday be run in underground crossings.

I once knew a J Pat Valentik who worked with me in Building 3 at the Philadelphia VAMC. Also made a living doing carpentry (including remodeling some office space in Wyndmoor through Joe Volpicelli, Merv Smucker and myself). Might you be the same fellow? smile
